Desperately seeking iPhone 4

Link to Macworld piece about the Macalope’s iPhone 4 shutout.

In this week’s Macworld piece, the Macalope tells his heartbreaking tale of getting shut out for an iPhone on launch day (first world problems hurt too, you know!). “Google fanbois” think the company can do aaaaanything and are netbooks on the way out?

Perhaps I’m missing something, but why switch the numbers? These are GSM phones locked to AT&T. Presumably, both you and your wife use AT&T. Have your wife buy the phone, put your SIM card into her new phone. No number switching required. What am I missing?

  2. Lukas,

The new iPhone 4 uses a micro-SIM card, not the (older) SIM card in the iPhone 3GS and earlier, thus the need for switching numbers to the new iPhone 4.
